Mathematics Resources

Resources for all areas of Mathematics from algebra to trigonometry, Maths portals to lessons, interactive activities to games & puzzles,. They should be taken in conjunction with Historical, Biographical and Other Mathematics Systems resources found on the Mathematics page. Unless otherwise stated they are free.

Remember many sites are not Australian. Check carefully to be sure they conform to Australian requirements before use, e.g. spelling, terminology, guidelines, … .

Listed individual resources are suitable for teacher use with all education levels unless specifically indicated otherwise.

  • Australian CensusAtSchool
    ‘Australian Bureau of Statistics [ABS]. Free internet based data collection and analysis project. Students respond to questions of interest about themselves by completing the CensusAtSchool online questionnaire. The questionnaire response data is then released back to teachers and students providing real, relevant data, for use with the supporting activities across the curriculum in all states and territories’.
  • Free Mathematics - How To Library
    12 areas of mathematics from Algebra to Trigonometry. Each has multiple sections and help with specific topics [e.g. Algebra = 17]. Each is clearly explained, with examples, while some have downloadable files.

  • Fun and Educational Websites for Kids

  • Great Graphing Resources Grades 1-8
    ‘Graphs are a part of maths in almost every grade. It’s an important topic to learn as it has several advantages. The biggest advantage of learning how to use graphs is that it makes it easy to display information. Very complicated facts and figures can be easily explained when displayed on a graph. Graphs are like pictures that speak a thousand words !’ Information as well as links to other resources.

    New South Wales Board of Studies. Suitable sites for senior secondary students in General Mathematics. Access past Higher School Certificate papers and syllabus material for all Mathematics, use this page and select “Mathematics” then the level of Mathematics which interests you. Each page provides this information and also links with archived material.
  • Living Maths Book List

  • Mathletics

  • Maths Games Plus Literacy
    A wide range of hands-on resources by level, with ACARA number and NSW Outcome number. They are listed by grade level. These are fee-based but affordable.
  • Maths@Home

  • MathsKit

  • Maths Online

  • MathsRepublic
    ‘Provides problem-solving pathways to higher achievement for students in Years 5 to 10’. Available for schools, teachers and students. Fee-based but costs are very reasonable.

  • Online Teachers’ Resource Network

  • Puzzles with Polyhedra and Numbers
    Jorge Rezende. In English. Articles, pages to work with polyhedra, with permutations and/or numbers. All in PDF format and easily re-produced. Other puzzles also in PDF format.
    Access a range of basic mathematics quizzes on the four operations, or make your own in the same areas. You can grade the quizzes and even show the correct answers.
