There are almost limitless resources on assessment. Most schools, colleges and universities have their own guidelines for assessment [and reporting]. The following do not dwell on the normal, everyday aspects of assessment, but tend more to Individual Education Plans, portfolios, internet based assessment, rubrics and other alternative formats.

Reporting, which is an integral part of the assessment process, has resources listed on a separate page.

Remember many sites are not Australian. Check carefully to be sure they conform to Australian requirements before use, e.g. spelling, Mathematical formatting, terminology, … .

Listed individual resources are suitable for teacher use with all education levels unless specifically indicated otherwise.

  University of Melbourne. Extensive information. PDF format available.
• Educational Measurement
  Department of Education WA. Covers NAPLAN, The Western Australian Monitoring Standards in Education [WAMSE], On-entry Program and Other Assessments.
• iAssessED
  ‘With iAssessED, you can store class lists, assessments, marks and student details. iAssessED also has a unique feature that allows you to create “links” between assessment tasks. The software is very intuitive and easy to use, you simply work from left to right along the icon bar. Updates are found and delivered automatically when you are connected to the internet’. Not free but yearly rates are quite small.
• SMaRT - ImagineThis
  ‘Smart Management, Assessment and Reporting Tool’. Now used in a range of schools in Victoria. ‘SMaRT has been developed by ImagineThis Computer Solutions in conjunction with a taskforce of Primary and Secondary school teachers’. Two components - Teacher and Administration allow for complete record keeping and reporting.
• Teaching Support
  ‘A range of support materials are provided to assist teachers to incorporate the VELS [Victorian Essential Learning Standards] into their teaching and learning programs’. Most suitable for Victorian teachers but other may use them as professional development information.

The depth and extent of material could easily be adapted for other areas.

Individual Education Programs [IEPs]

While primarily used in Special Education, there is no reason why they could not be used in the regular classroom.

• Checklist for Effective IEPs
  US and a little dated, but still contains a variety of good suggestions for inclusions.
• Creating IEPs
  A somewhat legal approach but there is good advice included and what to do and what not to do that would apply anywhere.
• Developing Standards-Based IEPs
