There is a huge variety of medical information available on the web. Some comes from high quality sources, some from lesser known sources or places with particular reasons for posting it. You need to be sure you access quality information.
Topics are arranged alphabetically on each page and are listed in letter groups [A, B, C, … ]. Use the letter link buttons at the top of each page to reach these sections.
This page provides information on topics from Pandemic Diseases to sites about Vision.
A First Page covers topics from Aging to Coping Strategies & Resources.
A Second Page covers topics from Deep Vein Thrombosis to ‘Kid Specific’ Information/Sites.
A Third Page covers topics from Medical News to Organisations for Specialist Areas.
Each of these pages can also be reached using the numbered boxes above.
Additional information related to the study of Medicine is found here, though it is primarily directed at tertiary students and professionals.
Remember - check the following with any site :
- Who runs the site ? Those run by government bodies or associations are, generally speaking, more reliable;
- If the information or advice sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful !
- Try to check a number of sites to find whether the information remains basically the same;
- Try to find if the information is current. Something from ten years ago could now be totally wrong !
- Besides what it can do, check to see if you are told any negative effects;
- No matter how good you may think a site is, nothing beats a visit to a qualified practitioner, or specialist !
