Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are warned that the following may contain images and voices of deceased persons.
scholarship [n.]
1. serious, detailed study [a work of great scholarship]. 2. an amount of money
given by a school, college, university, or other organisation to pay for the studies of a person with great ability but
little money.
Cambridge Dictionary
Scholarships, bursaries, grants, awards, endowments are all names for financial assistance given to individuals to assist them with their studies, irrespective of education level. In addition, there may be linked areas such as internships and traineeships which might be considered similar in several ways. A third concept could include fee-free courses being offered by several Australian governments, particularly in the Vocational Education area.
Amounts involved range from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. Some may be supplied with restrictions or obligations attached, e.g. specific age groups, study levels, funds to be spent on specific objects, commitment to work for a group for a period of time.
We have not included areas such as HECS-HELP, in all its formats, that are government sourced funding, but have to be repaid in some form over a period of time.
All state/territory specific scholarships have been placed under state/territory
headings. These are then listed in groups covering :
Education [early learning, schooling,
teachers, . . .], Indigenous [all areas and levels], Other [all other
areas not covered by the other four], Universities [undergraduate, post-graduate, research, . . .]
and Vocational Education [TAFE and other areas].
NOTE :
universities have been included based on their home campus, even though they may have campuses in other states and overseas.
This page looks at State & Territory scholarships and Indigenous Scholarships.
The Second Page looks at scholarship Search Engines, a National listing with some Specific Areas, and International scholarships both for Australians wanting to study overseas and International students wanting to study in Australia.
It is impossible for a site such as this to include every scholarship link. If what you are seeking is not included, we recommend you use a Search Engine to find your specific target, or the target area. If you are aware of a scholarship worthy of being added, please let us know so we can continue to improve this page.
