Education Unions

While union membership in the workforce has declined over recent years, a vast majority of teachers and non-teaching staff at all levels of education seem to be affiliated with a union in addition to any other associations to which they may belong. Teachers in several states belong to state-based unions while others, higher education professionals, non-government teachers, other school staff and even students [essentially higher education] tend to belong to national unions with state & territory branches

Union membership brings a range of benefits ranging over industrial, professional, legal and other representation. Many unions have other benefits available to members.

This page gives access to unions for many groups in the education sector. It also provides links to national and state bodies with which they are affiliated.
