Scholarships, bursaries, grants, awards [financial] are all names for monetary amounts given to individuals to assist them with their studies, irrespective of their education level. The amounts involved may range from the hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars. Some may be supplied with restrictions or obligations attached, e.g. funds must be spent on specific objects, commitment to work for a group for a period of time.

We have not included areas such as HECS or HELP, which are government sourced funding, but which have to be repaid in some form over a period of time.

This is a continually evolving page with additions made as sources are discovered, and present sources expanded. It will continue as a work in progress for a long time.

  Fees, allowances, scholarships and more.
• Campion College
  ‘Scholarships available to assist students to finance their studies at Campion. Almost all of these scholarships are flexible in how they are used, whether for accommodation or for the payment of fees’.
• Le Cordon Bleu
  Adelaide. ‘Apply for a range of scholarships including international scholarships, association scholarships and high school scholarships. Over $1 million in scholarships are made available annually’.
• Martin College
  ‘Each scholarship winner will be awarded a grant towards the Martin College course of their choice’.

Postgraduate

• Australian Postgraduate Awards
  ‘Available for a period of two years for a Masters by research degree or three years, with a possible extension of six months, for a Doctorate by research degree. Award holders receive an annual stipend and may also be eligible for other allowances’.

  Covers Australia wide and university-based scholarships for Australian and international students.
• Cooperative Research Centres Programme
  ‘The Australian Government awards between $20-40 million in funding to CRCs over a seven year period. This funding must be matched by cash and/or in-kind contributions from CRC participants’.
• Harold White Fellowships
  ‘Open to established Australian and international researchers or writers in any discipline in which the [National] Library has strong collections. Successful applicants are generally senior scholars or writers with a strong publication track record’.
• IDP Postgraduate Research Scholarships
  ‘Available to overseas students wishing to undertake an approved course of study in an Australian higher degree or its equivalent at an Australian institution. Scholarships are not restricted as to study topic’.
• National ICT Australia
  ‘Offers attractive scholarships to PhD students undertaking a NICTA-enhanced PhD with member and partner universities’.
• PhD Top-Up Scholarships
  ‘NCVER is offering several PhD top-up scholarships to candidates beginning their post-graduate degrees in 2012.
